Description

The Float 22™ avalanche airbag is designed for out-of-bounds, off-piste, freeride, and mechanized skiing and snowboarding. Creating buoyancy and helping you float to the surface, the 150-liter airbag not only decreases your burial depth but also protects your head and neck from trauma in an avalanche.  The Float 22™ is our lightest and most affordable airbag backpack available. It will easily carry your winter rescue tools, lunch, water, and extra layer for a full day in the backcountry.

BCA’s 200 authorized refill locations around the world make it the easiest refillable airbag system on the market. Float 2.0 air cylinder must be purchased separately.

The Float Airbag system does not guarantee survival in an avalanche incident. Educate yourself, make good decisions, and know before you go.

6 reviews for BCA Float 22™ Avalanche Airbag 2.0 Navy Tan

  1. The Float 22 emphasizes affordability among other airbag packs. It’s also jam-packed with features. In the event of an avalanche, the pull of a trigger engages a refillable, compressed air cylinder (sold separately) to deploy a 150-liter airbag. The pack’s 22-liter capacity is ideal for full-day backcountry missions, thanks to both shovel and probe sleeves, a separate dry compartment meant for wet items, and a diagonal carry for easy boot packing.

    Safety First

Majority of the time I ride with a pack. Resort side country, split boarding, etc. So my favorite thing about this backpack is that it doesn’t feel any different than the traditional backpacks I’ve been using for years. Even with the ABS technology, the pack feels light and comfortable. I can feel even more safe on the mountain without sacrificing the way I ride. This pack makes perfect sense.

    A must for the backcountry!

I love my BCA Float 22. Of course having an airbag backpack in the backcountry is a great added to tool. The Float 22 is the perfect size for day tours, cat skiing and heli skiing. The pack is comfortable with good organization for you shovel and probe, with plenty of room for your skins, a layer, some water and lunch. The canister system with BCA is easy to refill with locations all over the world, making these packs easy to travel with. BCA’s website is full of information and instructional videos to help you set up and manage you pack, which is great!

    The perfect backcountry air bag

I’ve used this pack while rappelling into couloirs in Chamonix, competing in 4 star Freeride World Qualifier events in Switzerland, Japan, and backcountry all over North America. I’ve been putting it through the wringer for the last three years and it is still as good as new. Its smaller size makes it far more versatile than larger float packs, definitely a great backpack.

  5. Great little Airbag!
BCA FLOAT – Awesome little backcountry bag! So lite you barely feel it on your back. It does not really impede your movement. Can carry everything you need for a day trip and still provide you that safety and security. Easy to refill at a local scuba shop too. I highly recommend this airbag! BCA makes some great backcountry gear!

Light and Compact! After shredding in AK with the Float 22 I now know how superior this bag is to other Avalanche Bags. My bag was noticeably lighter and more compact that the bags of the other girls on my crew. I never felt it on my back when riding lines and its great not to have to take the pull chord off everytime we got back in the Heli.
