Ever try using traditional (read: skinny and straight) climbing
skins with a pair of midfats or shaped skis? That gap between the
edge of the skin and the edge of the ski can cause slippage, uphill
face plants—and plenty of frustration. But I found a solution:
Backcountry Access' new Low-Fat skins come in widths of up to 110
millimeters yet are very lightweight. Affixed to my skis and trimmed
with the included razor tool to perfectly match my sidecuts, they're
like custom skins.
