  The Future of Telemark

Why NTN?

Because telemarking involves going downhill—fast—now more than ever. Traditional 75mm tele bindings simply don’t offer the power, performance, and ease-of-use of modern alpine touring and downhill bindings. With NTN, you get the confidence and ease-of-use that come with alpine bindings, but with the free heel and elegance of tele.

NTN Technology

  • Increased lateral stability, edge control, and adjustable forward flex.

Rottefella NTN users experience immediate energy transfer from boot to edge. They can initiate, follow, and finish the turn more efficiently, with enhanced control, confidence and power. New spring technology provides an even and adjustable forward flex.

  • Adjustable binding postion.

With Rottefella NTN technology it is possible to adjust the position of your binding forward and backward [+/- 10mm] after the binding has been mounted and to move the binding between skis without re-drilling.

  • Easy in - easy out.

An “easy-in” binding means you never have to bend over to put on your telemark binding. With the grip of a ski pole, flick the lever open, slide the boot into place, and push the lever back down. Getting out is equally as simple.

  • Ski brake.

Rottefella NTN comes equipped with an integrated ski brake. Standard size 95mm, extra wide 110mm.

  • Free pivot function.

By flipping the toe lever open, you eliminate all resistance for effortless climbing.

  • Symmetrical bindings

The Rottefella NTN system provides you with symmetrical bindings [no left or right ski].

  • Release function.

Rottefella NTN has a sideways release system* aligned with the leg’s point of rotation. The power tubes can be pre-tightened or loosened [see Rottefella Tech manual] to adjust the release settings.

  • NTN boots:

Scarpa and Crispi have designed boots to work specifically with NTN. The “duckbill” is gone and the boots can be used in most AT bindings. The toe is compatible with a much broader range of crampons than 75mm tele boots.

Smooth Forward Flex

With the NTN system, the boot is gripped firmly in the binding, independent of the spring tension. There is a direct connection between the ball of the foot and the ski. The flex pattern is consistent and adjustable with Power Tubes (yellow line). With 75mm cable bindings, this connection is indirect and flex is often variable (green and red lines).
