We had the pleasure of meeting another satisfied Tracker rescuer at our SIA (Snowsports Industries of America) trade show recently: Jeff Nass, a local snowboard photographer from Denver. Nass used his Tracker to rescue a sponsored snowboarder last February on the Deer Creek headwall near Montezuma, Colo. The snowboarder was buried just under two feet deep while riding this rowdy area during high hazard. “We knew the hazard was high,” Nass said, “but thought we could ride it out. This was a mistake. Don’t ever assume you can ride out of an avalanche. A minor sluff can turn into a real slide like this one.” It’s always incredibly satisfying for us to hear about live beacon recoveries like this.
