MSP’s “Attack of La Nina” Pukes on Boulder

Posted on October 7th, 2011 by andy | 5 responses
Boulder may not be a ski town, but they sure now how to party like one. A couple weeks ago Matchstick Productions took over downtown Pearl St. and sent ski junkies into a frenzy over the release of their latest film, Attack of La Nina, The Bitch is Back! Sean Petit, may be the best skier on the planet as his smooth, natural airs stole the show for another year. Combine his hard charging lines with some remote trips in the British Columbia and AK backcountry and you’ve got the makings of one the season’s best, new flicks. The footage below highlights the evening’s festivities. Be sure to note the Float 18 at :53. We all knew this thing would help you survive an avalanche, but never thought it could elevate ones on-stage worm to this level. Thanks to Colby West for that bit of product testing! “Attack of La Niña” World Premiere HD from MSP Films on Vimeo. Check the tour dates to make sure you kick off the season in style.

Can you explain why a movie about skiing and snowstorms uses old racist and sexist images as advertising? “The Bitch is Back?” Really? Who are you? Old racist white men from the 1940s? Or just young white men who have so much privilege that you take everything for granted. None of my money is going towards seeing your movie.

Hello Deb, we’re sorry to hear that the title and imagery of Matchstick Production’s movie offended you. The ski and snowboard industry sometimes makes risky and controversial choices that are not always politically correct, but with input like yours we can hope to move away from this.
